new years eve wish

rodyred400

This was my favorite gift that Pip got from Santa. Like me, it is ridiculous and fun! Other gifts of note: a bag of fleece from the grandmother who worries that she is cold and a bag of tutus from the grandmother who wants her to to twirl more. (Can you guess which grandmother is the maternal grandmother?)

Here’s to bouncing ponies, warm fuzzies, and whirly twirls in 2009! See you next year!

happy holidays

I hope everyone is having the most magical of holidays. I will be back to regular posting soon.

I have loved the work of Tokihiro Sato for quite some time. A word about the spots of light throughout the pieces – he make very long exposures and stands in various spots in the frame with a flashlight or a mirror reflecting light back at the lens. He records his presence, but not his image.  Lovely.

I saw some pieces in person here and they are quite impressive. Many of them are mounted on light boxes and illuminated from behind.

One of my favorite things about the holiday season are twinkle lights. They are everywhere this time of year! I wish this was the case all year. These are a seasonless version and just may help my cause. More twinkle lights please!

I have a weakness for fairy tales and happily ever afters. I finally got around to seeing Stardust and I was not disappointed. It is a charming story and one of the main characters is a fallen star. She shines when she is happy. How could I not love it?

alannah’s garden

Alannah Hill’s clothes are super girly, sweet and fun. I wish I dressed like this every day. Sometime in the last few month’s she got a new website. Her old site was really cool, but the new one is amazing! Seriously! Go there now. Gnomes, giant ice cream cones, purple owls, magical unicorns…I think this is what the inside of my brain looks like.

I am totally obsessed with this. I think it may have actual magical properties – like it might turn you into a fairy. Even if the fairy dust sparkles don’t magically turn you into a fairy, it will look pretty on your dresser.

autumn swap

swap2

Slowly but surely, we’re recovering. Thank you for your well wishes. We’ve been very lucky and before this, Pip has never been sick for more than 3 days. A 2 year old with the flu is just heartbreaking. Lucky for me, I had my autumn swap package to get me through! I was going to post this before the flu invaded my home.

I received a lovely package all the way from England! It was a lovely gift containing English rose candies, Marmite (I have always wanted to try this!), cozy socks, some lovely chai spice scented body butter, the cutest tin of lip balm, some adorable scented candles, and an amazing notebook – and I love a good notebook! And it was all tied up with some autumn leaves garland (which Pip enjoyed).

Here’s the thing about the flu – it fried my brain. The lovely woman who sent me the package has a blog with the word “clouds” in it. I can’t remember the full name and I can’t find it in my bookmarks.  M cleaned up and doesn’t remember where he put her lovely note that accompanied the care package. So, if you are the one who sent it to me, can you please comment with the name of your blog so I can give credit where credit is due? Thank you for a lovely gift. It truly offered some comfort in these last few days. And thank you to Sofia for organizing this. It was my first swap and it was so fun to participate!

flu

Sorry to have disappeared last week. Pip had the flu (no fun!) and M and I caught it as well. Will be back when everyone is healthy.

carla bruni

Um, how is it possible that it is December? Thanksgiving was a lovely blur. I’m feeling a bit hazy this week. A good mood for listening to the always lovely Carla Bruni.
