Did I mention that I love beauty products? Take a look at the beautiful packaging on these Portuguese goodies I came across on Design Mom.

good to be back

The last week has not been my own. This blog is my happy place and I don’t like certain realities (i.e. day job) to seep in. I will say that I was in a very intense training for work - 10 hour days, seven days in a row. It was a good experience and I am happy to be back to life as usual. I have had yesterday and today off and have been catching up on sleep and family time. Now as Pip naps, I am catching up on my favorite blogs. Ah, life - I missed you.

sick day

I woke up with fire throat this morning. Ugh! So I am home from work resting today while Marcus and Pippy are out having fun in this beautiful weather. Double ugh!

My mom’s remedy is to drink Odwalla Superfood and pick at a roasted chicken all day. To that I add ginger tea with honey and lemon and lots of sparkling water mixed with grapefruit juice. Oh and coconut sorbet. It works wonders on the fire throat!

white

For the first time i think ever, I want to paint my walls white.  I mentioned this to a friend and her response was “Who are you?”  I don’t know.

There were about 4 or 5 different wall colors in my last apartment.  When we moved into our current apartment, we asked our landlord to not paint over the brown that the previous tennents painted the walls.  It wasn’t our first choice, but I figured it was better than white.  I was wrong.  We hated the brown walls pretty soon after we moved in, but I was pregnant, so we couldn’t do anything about it.  Then the baby came and we didn’t want her to breath the fumes and we were also in that new parent daze.  Well here it is a year and a half + later and still with the brown walls. I didn’t realize how much of our “stuff” is brown.  With the brown walls, it’s pretty drab.  Our main living area is long and narrow with windows on only on wall, so it’s pretty dark as well.

My heart skipped a beat when I saw this photo set.  This is what I want!  A crisp white back drop is just what our “stuff” needs.  I’ve always been a cozy girl.  Maybe it’s the thought of the approaching Spring, maybe it’s the shiny happy girl who now shares our space, but I am craving light airiness like never before.

amelie

I’ve got Amelie on the brain lately.  It’s one of my favorite movies, and apparently, it’s the Pip’s too.  It was on non stop for about a week.  Seriously.  She didn’t sit and stare at it the whole time, at least.  But it had to be on in the background.  It doesn’t have to be on at all times anymore, but she asks for it at least once a day.  (Yes, by name.)

I always said that I wouldn’t let my children watch too much TV or watch the same video over and over.  So much for that.  The truth is that I think it is really cute that my 20 month old loves Amelie.  I am quite pleased that we have similar tastes in movies.

On a side note - I was going to post the sweet kissing scene from the end of the movie.  The YouTube community deemed it inappropriate for those under 18, so you can’t see it without logging in.  Huh?

Anyway, I didn’t feel like creating an account, so I posted this picture instead.

hello spring

abbydogpark.jpg

Fall and Winter have always been my favorite time of year. I love the coziness of the colder months. Spring has stopped by for a visit for the last few days and I am enjoying having her around. I am not usually ready for her this early, but with a 20 month old, life is easier when it’s not raining and dark by 5pm. This Winter went by in a blur.

I am looking forward to longer days, picnic dinners and explorations (like the one above) in the park after work, fewer layers of clothing (this is San Francisco, so a few layers are always necessary), brisk, sunny days and lots of fresh air.

Happy Weekend
